As Requested...

And so... as per request...here's me--and TJ too--from last weekend, dressed in our "finery." :)

My apologies for being out of touch this week, and bit slow sharing the photos, etc. We had a little bit of "drama" here this week...

Tuesday morning we awoke to find our old fridge/freezer had "died" during the night, and the fridge and freezer, both full of food going off! Thankfully we have "brown waste" collection here, so most of it was recycle-able. As were things in glass jars and bottles. But it was a lot to deal with--and first thing in the morning! Thankfully, very thankfully, with the help of family we were able to get a new fridge/freezer on Tuesday. By the evening it was in place, plugged in, and beginning to chill. It was a good thing too, as Wednesday was the National Day here, and all shops, everything, would have been closed, and no deliveries either... For a bleak moment it was looking like it might have been Friday, today, until we could have had a new fridge delivered, unless we acted fast and got the thing home ourselves with some help! Prayers answered!!

So we've been needing the week to "recover" from Tuesday... LOL! It was a big, unexpected expense. Also to restock the fridge. Expensive in its own way, to replace all that sits in the fridge waiting for us to use daily/weekly--jam, mustard, curry paste, soy sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, etc. It's during such moments that we realize how dependent we are on our household appliances and gadgets. It's actually good for us to have to think how we could manage things, if we really had to, without the help of our appliances and gadgets.

And so this week hasn't been as usual here, and hence, no This Week post either... But hopefully our smiling faces will be enough. ;)

Wishing you all a LOVE-ly weekend now...

  1. I truly loved the photos of you both dressed in your finery. I loved your outfit; it is awesome. Thanks for modeling it.
So sorry to hear about your fridge/freezer. I have had that happen before and it isn't fun at all. I am happy you were able to get it replaced quickly but I know it was a big expense. Restocking is not fun either. We are so dependant on our appliances and the basics we need for cooking.
It is good to have a back up plan for a time when you don't have access to modern appliances.
When I was around 13 years old; our refrigerator went out and my parents couldn't afford a new one for a couple of weeks. We had a camping cooler that we used to keep a few items cold. I thought it was very hard not to have a fridge full of food items. Anyway, I learned some lessons from that moment of time.
    Blessings and hugs!

    1. Thank you, LeAnn! It's actually kind of an odd picture of me, as I'm trying not to laugh while TJ takes the photo... ;) I don't really like having my photo taken... LOL! All of us have had to deal with a "dead" freezer, washing machine sometime or other, I think... not fun! :/

  2. just wanted to say how lovely your outfit is, I just love all that embroidery makes it look such a special outfit for a special day. You and TJ look great! Yes, our freezer switched off one night last year and we didint even realise it was off till a day later, needless to say all in there was spoilt! such a shame but thats just what happens sometimes! have a wonderful weekend to make up for the drama in the week!

    1. So sweet, Everydaythings... thank you! :) These sneaky fridge/freezers... most time's there seems to be no warning. They just die quietly in the night... LOL! For two weeks now we've had grey, fog and rain, so we're hoping very much the promised finer weather this weekend will come true, and we can work in the garden!

  3. What a lovely happy photo of the two of you! You look so beautiful and relaxed, Tracy! If something in our home doesn't work anymore, we suddenly realize how important it is in our daily life. Glad it all worked out.

    1. Thanks for stopping, Simone, and for your kind comment! :))) I don't like the one photo of me by myself too much, but it was the only good one of me from last weekend... which is typical, yes?! ;) It was the first photo of myself where I suddenly feel like I look older, and maybe not so good... blah... LOL!

  4. yes! your smiling faces are far and away enough! thank you!
my viking and his girl of the north! it's so lovely to just see you both!
well. I don't think a viking would appreciate the word lovely maybe. LOL!
    so don't tell him.
and a new fridge. always such a huge expense. then as you say... the restocking.
    life is in the details.
I hope you have sunshine this weekend as promised!
we had an outbreak of tornadoes last night here in our state. at last count there were 19.
but you know... that is just our springtime! and reminds you if you're not one with the devastating damage that's left that it's good just to be alive! XO♥

  5. I love both photos! The dress is just fabulous and you two look terrific too! (TJ is very handsome! What a great, warm smile!)

But what a bummer on the fridge. Mine is old -- I got it 22 years ago when I bought the house -- and I know it is doomed eventually here. A new one would certainly be more energy efficient but such a chunk of change. We figure we can go a day or two after losing power without losing food if we don't open the freezer. If it happens in winter, it's a little easier -- just throw it outside in a plastic box (or in the garage). But it's still annoying trying to cook things up fast -- and not know when you'll get the replacement. Your timing was pretty good, considering the festival!

    1. Hi, Jeanie... and thanks! My TJ's a cutie... and if he's smiling, I'm smiling. We have it sooo good these days! Oh, but I hope you're fridge will hold out a bit. Our's was just shy of 20 yrs old (TJ had it before we met, and we'd it with until now), it gave out without much warning, though. :/

  6. Oh Tracy! How lovely to see you (and TJ) in your finery! What a sweet couple you are! I know how you feel about the fridge/ freezer! We had a similar mishap recently with the freezer in the spare room. Everything had to ge thrown away. Distressing, but what can you do! I suppose one of the advantages of buying perishables in smaller quantities is that it's not so upsetting if things go pear shaped! Wishing you, TJ and Luna a lovely weekend filled with all the things you love! Love, hugs and blessings to you! Xoxo

    1. Oh, that was not fun with your frrezer dying, Marie! It's a sad thing to have to dispose of so much food. Even if one can recycle it like we can. The whole waste being a sin and all, you know... But yes, perishibles in smaller quantities would be the better way to go. Not always easy though, especially when we like lots of diffeernt kinds of condiments, jams, and thingd for extra flavor, etc.... LOL! ;)

  7. Frig and freezer problems are not fun. My daughter lost power for 8 days after a storm, and you can imagine the food spoilage. It sounds like you handled the situation with grace.
    You two look adorable!

  8. That is a wonderful photo of the the two of you! And you are looking lovely in your traditional outfit. I can sense the enjoyment both of you were having that day.

And what fortune to get your new fridge delivered and installed before the holiday. It is amazing how all the peripherals add up. Yet, all the jams, condiments etc are so delicious to have on hand:)
