Month of The Holy Rosary

"The Holy Rosary is the storehouse of countless blessing." --Blessed Alan de la Roche

“The Rosary is a school for learning true Christian perfection.” --Pope John XXIII

In the Roman Catholic Church, October is dedicated as the Month of The Holy Rosary and the encouragement of praying the Rosary daily. There is also a Feast Day of the Holy Rosary too, Our Lady of the Rosary, which is 7th October.

The Rosary is a special prayer devotion designed for contemplating the great mysteries of the lives of Jesus and Mary. Praying the Rosary is a wonderful way to honor Mary, the Blessed Mother, to be in companionship with her. And wherever Mary is, there is Jesus too! Through prayer of the Rosary, we take our hearts to our Our Lady, Our Holy Mother, and receive loving grace. She desires that we take our special intention, requests and prayers to her. There is no problem Our Mother turns away from... It is powerful prayer!

The Holy Rosary.org is a beautiful site offering the history and benefits of Rosary prayer, as well as the individual prayers for praying the Rosary. And here is a good Beginner's Guide to the Rosary. You do not have to be Catholic to pray the Rosary or enjoy the riches that come from this prayer!

Praying the Rosary takes only about 20 minutes... Time spent with Jesus and Our Lady, I want to try for more of that!

Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

  1. Thanks for all of this Tracy. I bought a rosary earlier this year because I felt that holding it while I pray might help me to focus more and it has. I will be sure to look up your links so that I can discover more about its rich history and tradition. Love you! Blessed Sunday! xoxo

    1. How wondeful you have a Rosary, Marie! And that you find much comfort and support for your prayers by holding it. I think you will enjoy the prayer links here, and may they bring more joy to your prayer times! :) Love you, too!

  2. Even though I'm not Roman Catholic, I find that there is great peace in a prayer such as this. What a lovely tradition -- and for so very many centuries. Thank you for sharing this.
