Yarn... soothes the heart and spirit

*SIGH*... In the midst of storms, yarn calms... We've had rainy weather here--stormy. And news from the world continues to be something unimaginable beyond storms. My heart hurts so much for the senseless and cruel tragedy in Las Vegas earlier this week, as well as all the other tragedies happening all over the world... My heart hurts for all the victims of natural disasters in recent weeks. I pray a lot for the state of the world. I'm almost afraid to see news every day now, for worry of what new tragedy, horror, and other ill has happened during the night while we slept...

Yarn is a big comfort for me, always is. And with change of season, yarn is even more part of my every day. I've begun crocheting a basket (above) using wool yarns. Abundance Basket...making up my own pattern.

Can you believe these earthy colors are in my work basket?! I don't naturally gravitate to earth toned colors. Probably because I don't look good wearing them. I really like the rust-colored yarn here, though. Stretching my creative horizons a bit with these! But easing in with a small project--an idea for a crochet amigurumi pumpkin and acorns...

A couple of weeks ago I finished my Lavender Meadow Scarf (above & below). Good timing, this finish, as it's been chilly here, and this scarf is warm and lovely and I've been wearing it a bit already! I was running out of yarn, so the lacy border is more narrow than I originally envisioned. Another make-it-up-as-I-go-along-pattern. It's been fun making up my own patterns, simple though they have been so far.

Anyone remember this one, my Ocean Ripple Blanket?!  Poor thing, it's been neglected for months in favor or smaller, quicker projects. Picking this up again...

If you're on Ravelry, you can find me and my projects page as PinkMagic.

What comforts or seasonal pleasures are you enjoying right now?

And just to add a bit more fluff and happy for the heart... our girl... :)

    1. Thanks, Jeanie! It's been a lot fiber fun here lately, and nice to share some of it between all else. I'm a natural brunette, but been coloring with an auburn nuance forma while. Most earth tones make me look washed out, strangely enough. I might get more of the rust yarn and try a shawl though, I'm really smitten with that shade! Luna LOVE the yarn! I have to be careful with crocheting/knitting when she's around... she wants to play with the live yarn! :)

  4. Hi Tracy! Just reading about your crocheing makes me feel less stressed and cozy. Indeed what horrendous news we habe been getting lately, it's beyond any comprehension or words really. Me too, I always find comfort with yarn. I have been neglecting it during the hot season, but now with the days getting shorter, the wind blowing stronger, and the temperatures droping rapidly, during this season that can be wuite tough on our mental wellbeing, yarn definitely comes to secure :-) I love all your projects, and all the colours ;-)
I am working on that poncho, and a wrap granny squares, so easy and maybe that's why it is so relaxing :-) Luna is soooo sweet! Big hugs and lots of love and happy thoughts despite it all

Your sweet Luna is so precious.
I agree our world is in turmoil. I try to be optimistic that maybe the 2nd coming is near. I would love to see our Savior come.

  6. Ahhh Luna, what a sweet treat right at the end. Love LOVE your scarf! Its so beautiful. I adore the colours! I have yarn leftover from my blanket and it might just be enough to do something like this. I, like LeAnn, try to be optimistic about everything that is going on and hope that the 2nd coming is near when we can see and be with the Saviour! I need to get started on my Christmas projects now! It won't be long. Love you! ((((big hugs)))) xoxo
