Fiber Paradise

Here we are back in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania... Ah, doesn't that view just make the heart sing?!

An extra stop in Lancaster and one I always look forward to, is The Old Country Store in the pretty village of Intercourse.

The Old Country Store is a crafter's dream come true offering thousands of bolts of fabric, creative supplies, locally-made quilts and crafts by the Mennonite and Amish, as well as pottery, books, cookbooks and kitchen wares. They also offer a wide range of creative classes to take on-site, along with long-arm quilting services. The store has been featured in many quilting and craft magazines as one of the best quilt shops in the US. With so many "temptations," a crafter could easily spend a whole week browsing the shop!

Perle cottons and special threads for quilting and crafts in a rainbow of colors and more!

So many, BEAUTIFUL quilts... *swoon*...

The shop is full of breathtaking quilts... I always leave hugely inspired... and in awe!

A little purchase of fabric from The Old Country Store--three sets of fat quarters--somehow found their way into our suitcases going home... ;) The fat quarter set on the left has colors that made me think of the jewel-toned dresses worn by the Amish women.

Some more pumpkins... Just because you can't have too many pumpkins in autumn-time! Is it time to go back to Lancaster yet??!

In the meantime, if you can, stop by on Friday, when I'll take you some place else, some place different...

  2. SO, when we meet up in PA -- because we WILL meet up in PA -- you'll have to show me this spot. I don't do fabric stuff but I love fabric stores! A girl can dream, can't she?! And I'd love to see those quilts and all the great gifts!

    1. I love the Amish quilts... they are just brilliantly created pieces of art. I have a couple of ideas brews for using the fat quarters... may let these "simmer on the back burner" for a little and keep them for a winter project to cheer frosty days. :)

  5. I know that I would really enjoy visiting this shop. I love quilts. I have worked on a few with friends. When I got married three of my great aunts came to my home and made three lovely quilts for me. Two of the became will worn from use. I do have one that is just so lovely that I haven't ever used. I think of them quilting away for me. They were probably in their late 70's at the time.
I love that you took some quilting squares home in your suitcase.
I'm loving that you had such a lovely time while back here for your visit.
Way to go girl! Love and hugs my sister in Christ!

    1. Hi, LeAnn! You know, I'm just loving thinking about your great aunts making those quilts for you!! How beautiful and generous! The one you never used, that you still have, do you have it on display maybe? We did have a great time away. It was a good mix of seeing family and going round to place we are fond of. Writing/sharing these posts has been a nice way think back on those days. :)
