Waiting for His Coming... Advent Week 1

Heavenly Father, I thank you for Your love.
Come, Lord Jesus, come...

Advent is a special season in the Catholic Church. It is, primarily, a time of preparation--the preparing of hearts, minds and bodies to receive the coming of Christ. His first coming is remembered, His second coming anticipated... It also marks the beginning of a new liturgical year. A time of preparation, formation, prayer, and celebration.

The Advent wreath is a devotion --used liturgically, as well as in the home-- for symbolizing the passage of the weeks during this season of waiting.

If you'd like to read more about Advent in the Catholic tradition, I can recommend this article

A wonderful Catholic resource of daily prayers, readings and reflections each day for each week of Advent is Praying Advent offered by Creighton University's Online Ministries.

Waiting for HIM... Each week I will light a candle here while I share my own prayers, quotes/poems, and more. I hope you will join me...

  1. My dear friend in Christ, I loved reading of how you celebrate Advent. It really is lovely. I will read your links for sure. There is so much goodness in what you are doing. My love for my Savior is strong and true. I too love to read, ponder, pray and learn more about our divine Savior's 1st coming and I look forward to His second coming. I love the reason for the Christmas season. It is Jesus The Christ. He is the light and we can be a light to the world by doing as He would do or have us do.
Sending loving thoughts your way and big hugs too!
