From the Kitchen...

It's been almost a year since I began the adventure of baking our weekly bread. Every week it's excitement when I take a fresh, new loaf out of the oven... its delicious scent permeating the house... mmm... I've been baking with lots of different types of flours and grains. Here is a loaf baked with spelt flour, and it has sunflower seeds--a very good combination, which has become a new favorite. Spelt is one of those ancient grains that's become more common again. It has a nice, slightly nutty flavor.

Only two weeks of Lent left... This Lenten season has gone by so fast! During the weeks of Lent we've been enjoying a lot of great vegetarian meals. I'll share more about those next week. We are looking forward to the Feast Day of Easter!

Wishing you all a LOVE-LY weekend now...

P.S. This has nothing to do with the kitchen, of course, but I know you don't mind... Just had to share this sweet Luna-moment from this week...

  4. You can go a whole week on the same loaf of bread? Boy, I can devour one of Rick's baguettes in a day! It looks delish, especially that wonderful tomato soup.

    1. Hi, Jeanie! Yes, usually a big loaf like this can last us a week. I don't eat much bread during the week, watching the carbs, so just in weekends for me mostly. TJ mixes up mornings with either bread-based or oatmeal/porridge. We do love our bread, though! ;)
