Blossom Time

May is the most beautiful month... and we've been having an especially lovely one this year. And WARM too! In all the years I've lived here, I can't recall a warmer and finer May. Trees in the garden are in bloom. Our two ancient apples, one ornamental cherry. With the fine weather everything is thriving so well... and veggie seeds are sprouting-- VERY exciting!

This past weekend, when we went to that fabulous garden center (a bit like an amusement park for garden-lovers, it was...haha!) and we brought home a few extra herbs to fill in some gaps in the herb bed, and planted into pots. Mint, basil, lemon balm, parsley and sorrel. (Oh, and some new bright pink garden gloves may have found their way into the shopping basket too. ;)

The war on weeds is in full swing too. Dandelions are rampant this year! I've been saving some dandelion roots to dry for making dandelion tea, which is a very healthy tonic for the body. The rest of the dandelions can be composted as there are sooo many.

What's happening on your patch these days?!

P.S. While we're out in the garden... our little fur-princess plays "camping" under the tablecloth in the dining room... TOO CUTE!!

  1. I love how she found her sun puddle! Your blossoms are divine -- do they smell as good as they look? Most of what I do is herb gardening and this year in smaller pots I can take easily to the lake with me. Today is attack the garden day! I can't wait to see how your new beds produce. I bet it will look marvelous!

    1. Isn't this critter adorable?! This girl does the cutest things? :) Sadly, no, the fruit tree blossoms don't smell very much. Just a kind fresh, "spring green" kind of scent. The seedlings in the raised beds are coming along really well! This is probably the earliest start we've had! Hope to have more green things growing to share soon.

  3. Yes, your Luna baby is too cute! I love her colors. Your spring sounds lovely. Our trees are blossoming and I especially love my lilac bush. It is so beautiful and the smells bring back sweet memories.
We haven't planted a thing yet but will do so soon. I beloved grandchildren have some plants starts from school projects and they will be in the ground soon.
Love your photos of the blossoms and etc. along with your thoughts today.
Blessings, hugs and extra measure of love being sent your way!

  4. Kitties do like the sunshine wherever they can find it. Oh I do love apple blossoms the best. They do sing to my soul. Our roses are in full bloom now and just take the breathe away.

  5. Love the peek at Luna's paws. What a pretty cat she is. I picked some of our sorrel this weekend to add some leaves to a salad. I do love to putter in the garden although in all truth Todd does most of the work. I just putter, lol. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous. WE often get the same as you do! Oh how I long to be able to hop across the water and visit you. Some day . . . Love you dear friend. So much. xoxo
