A taste of summer...

Summmer here!! And we're eating and celebrating sweet cherries at the moment! Cherry Clafoutis... mmm...

I've begun making jam for the freezer! We're just eating the last of the jams I put up last summer/autumn, so our stock is low. I've made some of our favorites. Sweet Cherry Butter and Spiced Blueberry Jam. I like making small batches of several different flavors for a variety of taste, so we can have a taste of summer in the depths of winter.

Dipping into some chutney making too... Homemade Tomato Chutney

Buttermilk Scones... pairs well with homemade jam! Sorry no recipe link. This is my own recipe. I'll see about sharing it another time...

A delicious weeknight meal... One Pot Greek Meatballs with Lemon Dill Rice from Dinner at the Zoo

On my Kindle app... Common Prayer: A Liturgy for Ordinary Radicals, which has been part of my morning prayer time.

I have a weakness for pretty/fun papers and card... and colorful pens too...

My Beatrice Caridgan has sleeves now, and I'm working on the yoke. Very much hoping to have this done in the next week or two. LOVING this project!

You know it wouldn't be a round-up post without Luna... ;) Our little techno-kitty is somewhat confused about all the wirework for TJ's synthesizer...!

There's been some AMAZING skies lately...

And on Midsummer Day, the past Saturday, 24th June, we were treated to this AMAZING sun ring!!

In a way, it feels like we've been having summer for some weeks already, and that has been wonderful. We are enjoying ever drop of it!

Behind the scenes here, there's been a fair bit of real life happening... And so I've been slow getting back here, updating comments, replying to comments, slow getting around online in general, etc. Also the news of the world, and in particular current things happening back home in America are just breaking my heart... So I'm feeling a little quiet, I suppose. The list of things and people to pray for grows and grows... And thankfully, God gives us hearts big enough to keep growing in prayer!

As we turn the page to July, I may be online a little less than usual. During the summer now we have a number of home and garden things on the to-do list. TJ has some time off. We'll be having a staycation this summer too, but there will be some fun in between all the things.  So I'll see you back here as soon as I can!

Wishing you all HAPPY SUMMER DAYS... if you are in the north, that is. Happy Winter to all in the south. :)))

  1. Yum, yum and more yum. Everything looks delicious -- there isn't one thing I wouldn't reach into the screen and grab if I could!

You've been productive with knitting and canning and baking and the garden and of course all the family things and activities that summer brings. A staycation sounds pretty good. Love Luna and the wires. Does she ever try to bat them about? So adorable!

  3. Our hearts are heavy for what is happening in this country. So very, very sad. I love cherry clafoutis soooo much. I haven't made one in awhile. If only my squirrels and raccoons didn't eat my cherries. Oh tomato chutney, I hadn't thought of doing that and soon we will have lots of tomatoes and we love chutney. I have done chutney with our plums, yummm! Your jams are lovely. Love, love your knitting project and seeing miss Luna.

  4. Always enjoy your posts whenever you can get to them. I am super slow on my blog. Life just seems to be going so fast and I am lagging behind.
I enjoyed your thoughts on this one. I loved your recipe links would like your Buttermilk scone recipe sometime. Jam on those scones sounds so good.
Prayer is so important on many levels. I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t kneel in prayer to my loving Heavenly Father and talk with him about my day and pray for others and ask for blessings needed. I know that I can pray anytime and anywhere and that my prayers are heard. I have had countless miracles through the beautiful gift of prayer.
Your cardigan looks to be a lovely one that I will look forward to you modeling.
The photo of Luna is precious. I see her personality in this one.
The photo with the sun ring is amazing.
The problems in America are sad. I feel like the Savior is saddened by what is happening here. If we could just pull together and turn to God; good things could happen. I love this country with all my heart and am grateful for the freedoms that we have. We have a great concern about losing our religious freedoms, also.
Well my dear friend, I hope you continue to enjoy a beautiful summer.
Sending loving thoughts and hugs your way!

  5. Like you, my heart aches about what is happening all over the world. All I can do is become a better me and pray for change. Love all that you are creating/cooking, reading, etc. That sun ring is amazing! What a beautiful capture! I am loving this warm, sunny weather. We desperately need rain, but I expect that when it does come it will make up for lost time, so we are enjoying the sun as much as we can for now! Love you so much sweet friend. Wishing you a beautiul day/week/month! xoxo
